All-Star Season Comes to a Close

All-Star Season Comes to a Close

The final pitch at the inaugural Mustang-9 World Series on Monday night signaled the end of the Walnut PONY all-star season. The league hosted three local tournaments, two zone tournaments and of course, one World Series. The league also was represented very well by 12 all-star teams that combined, finished with a winning record, 4 Super Region tournament appearances, 5 West Zone or West Zone World Series and 1 World Series. Not bad for a league of only about 400+ players and one of the best all-star seasons over-all in the over 40 year history of Walnut PONY Baseball. Many thanks to the parents who provided this website with scores and pictures from the all-star season: Julie Russo, Orch...

Hart Wins Inaugural Mustang-9 World Series

Hart used some timely hitting, power and solid pitching and defense to go through Super Regions, Zone and the first ever Mustang-9 World Series undefeated. They beat North Valley for the third straight tournament on Monday night thanks to three hit nights from Jacob Schwartz and Greg Pierantoni, who also took away the highest batting average in the tournament with a .692 average. Hart pitcher TJ Cataldi got the win and finished second in the tournament with an ERA of only 1.68. Mexico's Omar Lopez won that award by not allowing a single earned run, 0.00 ERA. On behalf of Walnut PONY Baseball, thank you to all teams and fans who came out and supported PONY baseball here in Walnut. We hope...

The teams from Kona, Hawaii; Sinaloa, Mexico; Corpus Christ, Texas and our own Walnut A team all got eliminated on Sunday. In one of the better games of the day, Hart faced off against the team from Mexico. With Hart trailing 2-0 in the 4th inning, Hart's Sage Marvin hit a grand slam home run to give his team the lead that it never relinquished and they won 6-4  North Valley won the nightcap 6-0 over Kona, Hawaii and earned them...
