For the first time this year and for the first time in several years at Snow Creek Park, a Walnut PONY player hit a true over-the-fence home run. The honor goes to Pony Division player Artie Ramirez from the USC Trojans. Walnut PONY Alums Playing for Walnut High School

The Walnut High School Varsity Baseball team is having one of its better seasons in many years. The vast majority of the team is made up of former players from Walnut PONY Baseball, including six members of the 2009 Bronco-11 World Championship team. The team is managed by Paul Acosta, who himself is a Walnut PONY alumni, having played on the only Walnut Pony division team to make it to the Pony World Series in Pennsylvania back in 1992. Saturday is Dodger Night, Half Day of Games

This coming Saturday, April 19th, is Dodger Night for Walnut PONY. Just a reminder that for those of you that have tickets, the game begins at 5:10pm. Our game schedule will be slightly different for a Saturday. Games will start earlier, 8:30am for both Pinto and Foal, followed by a Mustang and Bronco game at 11am. There are no games for either Shetland or Pony division teams. Check the schedule to see if and when your team is playing that day. There will be a special live stream webcast of both games on the north field on Saturday. The Pinto game between the Clemson Tigers and Maryland Terrapins at 8:30am and the Bronco game. Looking to make a difference for Walnut PONY? Sign-up to be a candidate for the Board of Directors. We will be holding elections during the playoff week starting Saturday, May 10th. All board positions are open to candidates for any league member (league member=any parent or guardian of a player in this league) with the exception of President or Vice Presidents, as those positions require that you already are a board member. Winter is Coming

Yes, Walnut PONY will be putting on another Winter Ball session this fall. The details will be determined at a later date but it will take place in early September and probably run till early November. We are encouraging teams from this spring season to stay together and play during Winter Ball as the same team. We will allow teams up to 10 players to be frozen while still leaving room for individual players to be assigned a team. The league will supply a t-shirt and cap and umpires. Walnut Valley PONY Baseball will be hosting a tournament Memorial Day weekend, May 24-26, 2014. We are encouraging all-star and travel ball teams to join us for the following age groups 6U (Shetland), 8U (Pinto), 10U (Mustang) and 12U (Bronco). Another reminder that after this Saturday's full day of games, March 29th, there will be no scheduled games until Monday April 7th. Walnut PONY coincides its spring break with the Walnut School District.  Check with your managers to see if they want to run a practice during the break. Spring break is also roughly the half way point of the season. With not many canceled games, we are still on course to complete the season on May 17th. The last two weeks of the season will consist of any makeup games not already scheduled and then the single elimination playoff format for all divisions except Foal.
