Pinto 8’s Win Region, 6U Qualifies for World Series

The the second year in a row, Walnut PONY has the best Pinto 8U team in the West Zone East Region. Manager Jerry Licea's 8U all-stars beat West Covina Red Tuesday evening 15-8 to take the Region tournament championship. They now move on to Super Regions in Moreno Valley July 9th. In the other local Region championship game tonight, the Shetland 6U all-stars lost in the championship game to Charter Oak 14-2 but the champion and runner-up in that tournament both advance to the West Zone World Series. 8U Wins Again, 6U and 7U Lose their First Games

The Walnut Pinto 8U team continues the Walnut tradition of doing well in the Pinto tournaments again this year. They beat Whittier 13-2 to advance to Tuesday's Pinto East Region championship game. The Foal, Shetland-4, team was eliminated from their Region tournament today but still advance. The 6U team lost for the first time today after pulling 6 straight wins to open sanction play. They lost to Charter Oak 11 to 7 but are still alive in their region and have already clinched at least a trip to Super Regions. Six Walnut All-Star Teams Play Sanctions on Saturday

The busiest day so far for Walnut all-star teams in PONY sanctioned play this Saturday. Two teams clinched spots in the next tournaments and one team was eliminated. The Pinto 8U team is still undefeated as they beat San Gabriel 12-0 and have a spot in the Super Regions. They play Whittier on Sunday with hopes of making it to the Region championship game on Tuesday. The Shetland A team also are still undefeated after another close game against Whittier Royal. Aiden Olguin doubled in Ayden Ramirez in the final inning to win the game 10-9. The win clinched at least a spot in the Super Regions and if they can beat Charter Oak on Sunday, they will clinch a spot in the West Zone World Series....

Fall/Winter Ball Registrations

Walnut PONY will have a Fall/Winter Ball session again this year. The season will start September 12th and run every Saturday till November 14th. We are guaranteeing 10 games and there will be age divisions from age 5 to 14. That's Shetland(6U), Pinto(8U), Mustang(10), Bronco(12U) and Pony(14U). A t-Shirt and cap are provided. Whole teams of 10 players can register for $750 per team or $75 per player as long as they already have matching uniforms. Individual players not on a team must pay $100 and will be assigned a team. Second weekend of PONY sanctioned tournaments and another weekend of outstanding results for the Walnut all-star teams competing. All three teams playing this weekend won a total of 11 games with only 4 loses and all three advanced. Foal, or Shetland-4, won their first game in a forfeit and then lost to Whittier before winning the next 3 games and taking second place at the Shetland-4 Sections. Walnut all-star teams combined went had 7 wins and only 2 losses in sanctioned PONY tournament play over the weekend and two of those teams will be playing for those tournament's championship games Monday and Tuesday. The Pinto 8U team will play a rematch with Whittier Navy Monday for the District 2 title and have already clinched a spot in the Region tournament, bypassing sections. The Shetland 6U all-star teams for Walnut, the A and B squads begin PONY sanctioned play today, Friday June 12th at the District tournaments in Pasadena. Also beginning play is the Pinto 8U all-star at their District tournament in Duarte. They take on Diamond Bar at 7:15pm.
