All-Star Season Comes to a Close

All-Star Season Comes to a Close

The final pitch at the inaugural Mustang-9 World Series on Monday night signaled the end of the Walnut PONY all-star season. The league hosted three local tournaments, two zone tournaments and of course, one World Series. The league also was represented very well by 12 all-star teams that combined, finished with a winning record, 4 Super Region tournament appearances, 5 West Zone or West Zone World Series and 1 World Series. Not bad for a league of only about 400+ players and one of the best all-star seasons over-all in the over 40 year history of Walnut PONY Baseball. Many thanks to the parents who provided this website with scores and pictures from the all-star season: Julie Russo, Orch...

Hart pitcher TJ Cataldi got the win and finished second in the tournament with an ERA of only 1.68. Mexico's Omar Lopez won that award by not allowing a single earned run, 0.00 ERA. On behalf of Walnut PONY Baseball, thank you to all teams and fans who came out and supported PONY baseball here in Walnut. We hope...

Hart Wins Mustang-9 West Zone but North Valley Advances Too

The Mustang-9 West Zone championship game between Hart and North Valley was played in Walnut on Monday night to determine who would advance to the first ever Mustang-9 World Series later this week. Or at least that was what the players and parents thought before and during the game. PONY announced after the game that since one of the other Zones will not be coming, both West Zone teams, Hart and North Valley would be advancing to the World Series. Walnut’s Pony 14′s Will Advance to Super Regions

After losing their first game in the Region tournament in Azusa, Walnut's Pony 14U team took the hard route to qualify for the Super Regions. They had to win 4 straight games against the best 14U teams in the region, which they did by at least 6 runs, in order to reach the East Region, West Zone championship game and an automatic qualification to the Super Region. On Monday night they faced our rival city, Diamond Bar and came out on top by a final score of 9-3, eliminating Diamond Bar. Tuesday night they will face the only team to have beaten them so far, Covina, for the East Region championship. Since Covina is undefeated, Walnut will need to beat them twice to claim the title.
