A Full Saturday of Playoff Games

A Full Saturday of Playoff Games

11 teams on Saturday get to play another day, while 11 more played their last game of the season on a very busy and full day of playoff games at Creekside Park. Board of Directors elections got started as well and will continue on Tuesday night for the teams that did not play of Saturday. Team pictures did NOT show up today due to an issue with the supplier. We hope to get them on Tuesday. Any updates will be posted as soon as they are known.

The Pony Division finished their regular season over at Snowcreek Park. The Pony Maryland Terrapins finished the season in first place with a record of 8-5-1 and that division will start it’s 4 team single elimination tournament next week and conclude on Saturday, May 17.

The Foal Division wrapped up their season as there are no playoffs in Foal. We do however, highly encourage parents and Foal players in full uniform to join us for closing ceremonies next Saturday at about 3pm. All Foal players receive trophies.

The Pinto division started off the day with four games that ended with no big upsets and only one higher seed losing. All games were decided by at least 6 runs and were not close. Pinto resumes play on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm with the semi-finals. Number 1 seed USC Trojans will take on the Clemson Tigers on the south field. While Fullerton Titans will face the Maryland Terrapins on the north field.

The Shetland division made up for the lack of excitement in the morning with all three of it’s playoff games on Saturday afternoon and evening determined by 1 run. Shetland picks up again on Tuesday when their number 1 seed, Florida St taking on UCLA.

The Mustang division had a very exciting first game that was also the biggest upset of the day. The Mustang Clemson Tigers, who only won one game all year, came from behind and won in extra innings against the Mustang UCLA Bruins. They will next face the regular season’s number 1 seed, Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday, May 13th.

The Bronco division’s last seeded team, Texas A&M also pulled off an upset when they cruised past USC 15-4 and will take on number 1 seed, Clemson on Tuesday. In the nightcap, Florida St. played solid defense and got good pitching for most of their game against Maryland and led 5-4 going into the bottom of the 6th inning. However, Maryland, using only one base hit, scored 5 runs and held on to defeat the Seminoles 9-5. That win advanced them to the championship game where they will await the winner of the Clemson/Texas A&M game.

All playoff brackets have been updated along with box scores added for the Pinto, Mustang and Bronco divisions. The playoff games do NOT count toward the player’s regular season stats and the stat leaders are now final. Also, at the moment, all remaining Pinto, Mustang and Bronco games will most likely be filmed and some of them also streamed live.
