Sunday will be another four games, again starting at 2pm, with at least two more teams that will be eliminated and possibly, four teams.

Saturday’s 2pm game was between South Zone champ Corpus Christi, TX and North Zone champ Channahon, IL. Texas jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings and then kept the Illinois bats quit the rest of the game to win by the same score. At 4pm, Kona, HI faced East Zone champ Garner, NC. Kona took a large 9-1 lead going into the 5th inning when Garner made a game of it by scoring 4 runs. The Hawaiian team was able to hold on and win 9-5. The last game of the day featured our Walnut all-stars against one of three Southern California teams in the tournament, North Valley. Despite neither team getting any hits the first three innings, North Valley led 2-0 going into the 4th inning when Isaac Quintanilla¬† tripled in Jordan Gonzales to give Walnut it’s first run. However, North Valley got a big inning in the top of the sixth that included back-to-back doubles by Ethan Munoz and Andrew Salazar that game them a commanding 7-1 lead that turned out to be the final score.

Sunday Mexico will face Corpus Christi and Walnut will face Kona, HI. The loser of both games is eliminated while the winner will face one of the two remaining undefeated teams, Hart and North Valley, later on Sunday. If Hart and North Valley win both of those games, they will meat in Monday’s championship games. If either team losses, the will need to rematch the team that beat them on Monday afternoon.

In other Walnut all-star news, the 14U Pony team beat Quartz Hill 12-1 in a game that included another home run from Brooke Cooper. They will next face Cypress on Sunday and if they win that they will continue to play on Sunday.
