Another weekend of Walnut all-stars and tournaments at Creekside Park has passed. The rain and lighting issues caused a delay in crowning the Mustang-9 Super Region teams and the Bronco Region teams as well. Both tournaments will complete are other parks today and tomorrow. The Mustang-9 and Bronco-11 West Zone tournaments begin this week at Creekside. Our Bronco-11 team will play their first sanctioned game Thursday night against a Northern California team, North Bay.
Walnut’s Shetland 6U A team did well in pool play at the Shetland World Series in Simi Valley and finished second in their pool to advance to bracket play on Monday. However, they lost to Temecula in the first game and were eliminated.
The Mustang 10U team played three very close games and even beat Charter Oak in one of them but they were eliminated at the Mustang Region in West Covina.
The Bronco 12U team finished a strong 3rd in their Bronco Region tournament here in Walnut and have secured a spot in next week’s Super Region in Whittier. They beat Monrovia, West Covina Blue and San Gabriel but lost to Charter Oak and West Covina Red, who also advanced.
Quick shout out to the great kids that work the tournaments here at Creekside Park. They got drenched most of the weekend doing a lot of work to maintain the fields and run the snack bar. The Board of Directors couldn’t do it without them.
