Bronco-11 West Zone Games Under Way

The first day of games at the Bronco-11 West Zone began on Thursday. Murrieta took on Ramona on the north field with Ramona winning 5 to2. On the south field Charter Oak battled Newport Harbor in what turned out to be the most exciting game of the day. The first three innings were scoreless until Newport Harbor’s Shawn Neilsen crushed the first home run of the tournament. Both teams traded runs over the next two innings when Charter Oak took the lead 4-3 going into the 7th inning. Newport’s Hayden Schott’s 2-RBI single scored the tying and go ahead run and they were able to hold on to the lead by a final score of 6 to 5.

The next game featured Walnut’s All-Stars taking on the Northern California team, Vacaville. Walnut’s Noah Zamora and Juan Guardado each hit home runs but too many errors and excellent pitching by Vacaville’s Titus Groeneweg sent Walnut down to defeat, 4-2. They next play Charter Oak at 2:30pm on Friday. That game and all games on the north field or field F1 will be streamed live for the rest of the tournament.

Only one other all-star game for Walnut teams on Thursday. The Pinto-7 All-Stars started the SoCal World Series Pool Play but they lost to Simi Valley 1 by a score of 15 to 1. They will next play Anaheim on Saturday.
