Championship Games Ready, Time Changes for Pony

The teams are all set for all championship games this Saturday May 17th. There have been a couple of changes to the game start times.

  • Shetland Championship game has been moved to 9am
  • Pony Division Championship game is now at 9am or 9:30am, still not confirmation of exact time. Check with your team managers

The Shetland Maryland Terrapins will be one of the teams in that championship came after they pulled a major upset Thursday night against Shetland Florida St. Seminoles. The Seminoles had only lost once all season and came into the game the number 1 seed. After a back and forth game, extra innings and more than 2 1/2 hours of baseball, the Terrapins won the game with the help of a game saving catch by Caleb Compolongo. Maryland will now face Texas A&M Aggies.

The Mustang semi-finals were also Thursday night in a game that featured the Mustang USC and Oregon St. teams. USC struck first with 4 runs in the top of the first inning but Oregon St. slowly closed the gap after 3 innings to a 4-3 score. USC then took advantage of nine Oregon St. errors to build up a 6 run lead and then hold on to a 9-4 victory to punch their ticket to Saturday’s championship game. They will meet the Mustang Maryland Terrapins at 9:30am.

Pinto and Pony divisions championship games were settled on Wednesday night when Pinto USC beat Pinto Clemson 11-0 and Pinto Fullerton came back after being down in the sixth inning to defeat Pinto Maryland. USC and Fullerton will face off at noon on Saturday on the South Field. Both the Mustang and Pinto games will be filmed and have DVD’s available right after the games. However, only the Bronco game at noon, between Bronco Clemson and Bronco Maryland, will be live streamed.

The Pony Division game, moved to the morning, will also be between Maryland and USC. Closing ceremonies are scheduled to start immediately following the Bronco and Pinto games, which should be roughly at 3pm.
