The Mustang-9 West Zone championship game between Hart and North Valley was played in Walnut on Monday night to determine who would advance to the first ever Mustang-9 World Series later this week. Or at least that was what the players and parents thought before and during the game. PONY announced after the game that since one of the other Zones will not be coming, both West Zone teams, Hart and North Valley would be advancing to the World Series.
The game itself was a classic duel between to excellent pitchers, Hart’s TJ Cataldi and North Valley’s Tommy Goodin, and outstanding defense on both sides. With North Valley leading 2-0 going into the final 6th inning, Hart finally started hitting and scored 9 runs. They then retired North Valley in the bottom of the sixth and began to celebrate the West Zone championship.
Both teams will be playing this Friday, July 25th along with teams from: Channahon, IL/Liga Ahome de los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico/Corpus Christi, TX/Kona, HI/Garner, NC and of course the Walnut A Team.
Both teams celebrate a great game at the Mustang-9 West Zone in Walnut.
