Los Alamitos and Simi Valley set for Championship Game

The final day of the Mustang-9 West Zone and Walnut’s long 3 weeks of hosting tournaments will take place on Sunday with a championship game, or two, featuring Los Alamitos and Simi Valley.

Those two teams started Saturday as the only undefeated teams left but Los Alamitos beat Simi 9-4 to clinch a spot in Sunday;s game. Los Alamitos Jared Anderson, who went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and Aaron Onken, who went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s, led the team.

Simi Valley had to take a harder route by immediately playing another game against Bakersfield and what a game it was. Bakersfield took an early 2-0 lead before Simi Valley scored 4 runs to take the lead for good despite a strong Bakersfield attack. Simi Valley was led by Roc Riggio who went 3 for 3.

Just a reminder that Sunday’s game is at 11am and if Simi Valley wins, there will be a second game 30 minutes after the first one ends. Los Alamitos only needs to win the first game to claim the West Zone title.
