Mustang 10U’s Win their First Game

While the Walnut Mustang 10U all-star team had no idea until very recently that they would have to open up sanctioned play away from the Walnut tournament next week, that didn’t keep them from winning their first game at the District 1 tournament in only 3 1/2 innings. They faced Monterey Park and got off to a slow start only leading 3-2 after an inning and a half but they then exploded for 17 runs over the next two innings and won in a mercy 20-4.

Walnut got a huge game from sluggers Diego Franco, Matthew Mora and Nathaniel Rodriguez, who played most of the game with a hurt leg. The 10’s next face the host Charter Oak Gold Friday night at 7pm.
