Pinto 7’s Win First, Pinto 8’s Lose First

Pinto 7’s Win First, Pinto 8’s Lose First

It was good news and bad news for the Walnut Pinto all-star teams Friday night at each of their Super Region tournaments. The 7U team, after not winning any of their home games at the Region tournament in Walnut a couple of weeks back, won their first Super Region pool game against La Mirada 3 to 1. They will face East Long Beach on Saturday at 3pm and then Newbury Park on Sunday.

The 8U team, after winning 9 games in a row to start sanctioned play, lost for the first time on Friday night to Placentia 11-5, after falling behind early 7-0. Their Super Region tournament is double elimination so they are still alive but they face a very rough road needing to win at least twice on Saturday in order to get the chance to play again on Sunday where they will need to win three times in order to finish as the tournament runner-up (only the champion and runner-up advance to the Pinto West Zone World Series). They start their long trek early Saturday morning against West Covina Red.

The Mustang 10U team came from behind in a very close game against Whittier to win 11-7. They next face the host West Covina Red at this Region tournament. At the field next door, the Bronco 12U team also went against the Bronco East Region tournament host, West Covina Red, but they got mercied 17-1. They will need to win on Saturday against La Canada in order to keep their all-star season going.

In addition to the teams above, the Shetland 5U team will also be playing in the West Zone World Series pool play with two games on Saturday.
