Yesterday the 43rd season of Walnut Valley PONY Baseball started with the ceremonial first pitch of Walnut Mayor Tony Cartagena to Bronco player Jacob Ramirez. The opening day ceremonies also included ex-Dodger Dennis Powell’s excellent talk to the young players about the importance of having fun playing baseball and striving to go to college. We also finished up the raffle by handing out prizes such as the new XBox One and PlayStation 4 game counsels along with a 60″ flat screen TV. Parents and players were also able to enjoy free Dodger dogs provided by the LA Dodgers new TV channel, SportsNet LA.
Games began shortly afterwards and the season is now under way. We had some technical difficulties with our new satellite internet that prevent games from being scorecast and also caused the live stream to work badly. We hope to have the issues cleared up early this week.
