Bronco All-Star Pitchers Throw a No-Hitter in First Game

The Walnut Bronco All-Star pitchers, Joshua Carnighan and Jeff Rubio, combined to pitch a no-hitter in the first game of the Section 2 Tournament against Rosemead. Walnut bats also pounded out 17 runs as the game ended after five innings due to the mercy rule. Carnighan and Rubio not only pitched well but they also had 2 RBI’s apiece along with Brock Cooper and Cade Lawhead. Matthew Olguin led the team with 3 base hits. The final score was 17-0. Walnut will play Diamond Bar on Saturday at 11:30am.

Over at the Pinto Region Tournament in Monrovia, the Pinto A team got off to a good start by beating La Canada 11 to 1. They will play Whittier Navy at 4:00pm Saturday. While the Pinto B team will try to stay alive in the tournament by playing Monrovia at 10:00am earlier that same day.
