Shetland and Pinto 7 Win again, Pinto 8, Mustang and Bronco all eliminated

Shetland and Pinto 7 Win again, Pinto 8, Mustang and Bronco all eliminated

Another full Saturday of games for several Walnut teams and at Creekside Park. The Mustang and Bronco Region tournaments will continue on Sunday but both without the host Walnut teams. Both teams played the early 10am games and lost. The Bronco all-stars fell to San Gabriel 10-4, while the MustangĀ  team lost to Diamond Bar, 7 to 4.

Our Pinto 8U team was also eliminated today at the Super Region, 8-6 to Fountain Valley. They had earlier in the day come back from a 4 to 1 deficit against Simi Valley to win 7-6. The Pinto 8’s showed great promise this all-star season and were either winning by mercy or in some very tight ball games. We can all look forward to this team representing Walnut next year as Mustang 9 all-stars.

The other Pinto all-star team, the 7U, overcame Friday’s close loss and defeated Mid Valley 7-5 at the Pinto 7 Super Region. They will play their last Pool game on Sunday against traditional powerhouse Torrance American. Only the number one and two seeds advance from every Pool.

Another strong team for future Walnut all-star teams, the Shetland A’s won their second Pool game at the Shetland Super Region against Temecula 19-9. If they can beat La Mirada on Sunday, they will clinch a spot in the bracket play on Monday and Tuesday.

Other highlights from Creekside on Saturday included:

  • The first over-the-fence home run for the Bronco Region this year from San Gabriel’s Thomas Castillo.
  • The first over-the-fence home run for the Mustang Region this year from West Covina Red’s Alfonso Pinedo
  • Both Charter Oak’s Bronco teams are the only undefeated teams left. They play each other on Sunday at 3pm
  • Traditional rivals West Covina Red and Charter Oak are the only undefeated teams left in the Mustang Region. They also play on Sunday at 3pm.
