Skills Competition Kicks Off Bronco-11 Zone Tournament

Five of the teams competing in this week’s Bronco-11 West Zone Tournament met tonight for some barbequed tri-tip sandwiches and some fun in the field with the Skill Competition.

The Base Running event started the competition with representatives from the teams each  taking a turn running the bases to see how is the fastest. The event was won by Charter Oak’s Jaden Allen with a time of 13.7 seconds.

The Around the Horn was next where 4 players, one at each base throw a ball from home to first, second, third and back home, also timed. Walnut all-stars Aaron Garcia, Daniel Tapia, Carlos Mendoza and Jared Arellano won that event with time of 8.5 seconds.

Finally the main event, the Home Run Derby, each batter got 10 outs (an out is any batted ball not a HR) to hit as many home runs as they could. Walnut’s very own Juan Guardado won the event by belting 14 home runs over two rounds.
