Unassisted Triple-play in Shetland

Unassisted Triple-play in Shetland

RJ Sermons of the Shetland USC Trojans pulled off one of the rarest of baseball plays Tuesday night on the Shetland field, an unassisted triple-play! With runners at first and second base during the Trojans game against the Clemson Tigers, a Clemson batter hit a pop-up near the pitchers mound that RJ raced after from his first base position, dived and caught the ball for the first out and then had the presence of mind to run to both first and second base to record the second and third outs completely by himself. The Trojans ended up losing the game 10-9 but RJ, his team and the fans watching the game will always be able to say that they witnessed one of the rarest plays in baseball.
