The Walnut High School Varsity Baseball team is having one of its better seasons in many years. The vast majority of the team is made up of former players from Walnut PONY Baseball, including six members of the 2009 Bronco-11 World Championship team. The team is managed by Paul Acosta, who himself is a Walnut PONY alumni, having played on the only Walnut Pony division team to make it to the Pony World Series in Pennsylvania back in 1992.
After an excellent preseason the Mustangs have started Hacienda league play at 2-0 and face perennial valley and league power, Bonita today, Tuesday, April 15th. Former Walnut PONY all-star Christen Longoria will be pitching and has a 5-1 record with a 1.39 ERA going into today’s game. San Gabriel Valley Tribune sports reporter, Fred J. Robledo, mentioned him in his tweet below.
Walnut's big sophomore, Longoria, expected to be on the bump at Bonita … Folks, can Walnut win the Hacienda?
